My son Ahsun Nazir was struggling in school and started falling behind in assignments and tests that resulted in poor grades across multiple classes including Spanish. In the parent teacher conferences with many of my sons teachers, Ms. Misti Kanistanaux stood out in many ways. First of all she was very willing and accommodating to give another chance to Ahsun to make up missed work. She asked Ahsun to show his commitment by providing a plan to make up for missing work first. She was very positive in her approach and re-enforced several times to Ahsun that he is a great kid and he can do much better. She shared personal story and experience of some of the consequences of not working hard in high school. She gave us (Ahsun's parents) a lot of hope that Ahsun can come out of the hole he had dug himself in. I saw noticeable difference in Ahsun's commitment to work hard and make up for missed work in all classes. He improved his GPA for the 3rd term significantly. I really appreciate the personal interest Ms. Misti Kanistanaux showed in turning things around.
