Nomination for Utah PTA Board of Directors Positions

Call for Nominations for 2025-2027

Utah PTA announces the following positions open for the term of 2 years:

  • President Elect
  • Secretary
  • Advocacy Vice President
  • Director of Leadership
  • Director of Membership
  • Education Commissioner
  • Safety Commissioner 
  • Area Director 1
  • Area Director 3
  • Admin Representative

and the following positions open for the term of 1 year:

  • Compliance Vice President 
  • Area Director 2
  • Area Director 4

To put forward your name for nomination for any of the open positions, please fill out the Utah PTA Board of Directors Nomination Form below.

In your application, you must include the following:

1. Experience

Please include your current and previous PTA experience, other volunteer experience, and work experience. (Please submit in bullet format—this should not be a full resume.)

2. Four References

Please include the name, e-mail address, and phone number of four different people who can vouch for your experience, skill, expertise, or character. Tell us how you know each reference, in what capacities you’ve interacted with them, and why you selected them as a reference.

3. Answers to the Leadership and Mission questions

  • Describe work you have done with your local/council/region/state PTA and express how that experience would move Utah PTA's Strategic Plan forward. (100 word limit)
  • Express what you believe is the most critical component in planning to ensure success in the work of the board. Share a time when you employed this critical piece and explain how it helped you achieve success. (100 word limit)
  • Please share something about our mission that resonates with you and explain why. (100 word limit)
  • What are your top three leadership strengths? (20 word limit)
  • What vision/ideas do you have for the position you are applying for? (100 word limit)

4. Conflict of Interest

This helps us know about other organizations with which you’re associated and does not necessarily disqualify you from candidacy.

5. List of other positions that you would consider

In the event that multiple nominees are presented for open positions, we like to know what other positions our nominees may be willing to consider.

6.  Photo

Please upload a current photo of yourself as an image or as a PDF.

7. Cover Letter

Share your reasons to be considered for the position you indicated, as well as skills and expertise you would bring to the position. You will upload your cover letter into the Google Form as a document file or as a PDF.


The Utah PTA Standing Rules lists the following general qualifications for nominees:

  1. Be a supportive member of PTA.
  2. Have a knowledge of and abide by PTA Purposes, bylaws, policies, standing rules, procedures, and publications and have some knowledge of parliamentary procedure.
  3. Have a high sense of justice, courtesy, openmindedness, moral courage, and integrity to serve the interests and pursue the goals of PTA, an ability to get along and work well with people, and a sincere and respectful attitude toward fellow PTA members and their views.
  4. Be relied upon and have sufficient time to give PTA a satisfactory level of priority and commitment.
  5. Be fair and objective and able to subordinate personal interests to the interests and well-being of the PTA.
  6. Be enthusiastic and innovative; have vision and a sense of humor.
  7. Have carried out all responsibilities well.
  8. Have skills in management, human relations, group dynamics, organizing, problem solving, delegating responsibilities, public speaking, and chairing committees.
