I currently have twins (a son and daughter) in Mrs. Gonzales' third grade class. They both absolutely LOVE her. My daughter has trichotillomania (hair pulling) and has struggled not only emotionally, but academically from this disorder. Mrs. Gonzales is an amazing teacher who treats her students with respect and kindness. People can tell that she loves to teach and her students love her. She has created an amazing classroom community where students know that bullying of any kind is not tolerated. She has high expectations for her students and encourages them along the way. My daughter is so self conscious about her hair that on most days she wears a hat with a hoodie sweatshirt over the hat to school. Because of the encouragement from Mrs. Gonzales, now she will often remove both while in her classroom where she feels safe. This is a HUGE deal. Also, my daughter's reading has improved immensely because of Mrs. Gonzales and her reading instruction. My husband and I are so grateful that our kids have had Mrs. Gonzales for a teacher. I'm sure that they will look back on her as an impactful person in their life.
