The goal of the Family Life Commission is to promote healthy family relationships, thus resulting in success of children in all aspects of their lives. Utah PTA believes that the first and most important teacher throughout a child's life is the parent. The Family Life Commissioner aims to provide information and resources for parents and families as they encounter different stages and challenges of life.  Specifically this includes

Sometimes it is necessary for us to speak out on behalf of children. PTA leaders can help you refine your message and make sure that what you say is in harmony with the goals and mission of PTA.

Needs Assessment

Ideally, your PTA will do one or more broad needs assessment surveys which will include family life issues. Needs assessments can be sent home in newsletters, setup as an online survey, sent with registration information, or distributed and collected at faculty meetings, parent/teacher conferences, or any gathering of parents. Students may also have valuable input. Respondents do not have to be PTA members. You may not be able to address every area of concern, but you should be able to identify the most important issues.
