National PTA Public Policy Agenda

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the primary federal law authorizing state and local aid for special education and related services for children with disabilities. IDEA requires states to provide a free and appropriate public education to children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment possible. National PTA is committed to insuring students with special needs have access to opportunities that make them college and career-ready, and that parents are closely involved in the process.
