National: RESPONSE TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE AFFECTING STUDENTS

That National PTA and its constituent associations urge and support compliance with and strengthening of Title IX and other federal, state and local laws that identify, prohibit, and address the effects of sexual harassment and sexual violence impacting students and be it further.

Resolved, That National PTA and its constituent associations encourage and collaborate with school administrations and community partners to ensure that every school provides support services for victims and presents awareness and prevention programs that address sexual harassment and sexual violence affecting students, including the responsibilities of educational institutions and the rights of sexual violence and sexual harassment victims under Title IX and other laws.

That Utah PTA advocate for funding and legislation for integrated home and classroom intervention programs; continued research and clinical trials of treatment medications to support children and youth;and support insurance parity for mental illness;and be it further

That Utah PTA and its constituent associations actively advocate for increased funding for additional trained counselors, psychologists, and social workers to assist and educate families and youth in both elementary and secondary schools participating in the public school system.

That National PTA and its constituent associations advocate for and support legislation
and policies that protect our youth from harmful, discredited programs that claim to
change their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Utah PTA and its constituent bodies support the adoption of “Idle-Free Zones” on school grounds; and be it further
Utah PTA and its constituent bodies work with local schools and school districts to install “Idle-Free Zone” signs at school drop-off and pick-up locations; and be it further
Utah PTA and its constituent bodies encourage parents to turn off their vehicles when they are parked and waiting to drop off and pick up children on school grounds; and be it further
Utah PTA and its constituent bodies conduct and/or support broad education of school employees, parents, students, and the public about the health, environmental, and economic impacts of idling and ways to reduce idling; and be it further
 

That Utah PTA, along with its constituent bodies, encourage all Utah school districts to have all school buildings periodically tested for radon, especially areas that are frequently occupied and have a floor or a wall touching the ground or above an enclosed crawl space; and be it further

That Utah PTA, along with its constituent bodies, encourage all Utah school districts to work to correct all areas where radon levels are above 4 pCi/L and install radon prevention features during construction of new buildings or renovation of existing buildings

That Utah PTA work with school districts and local schools to encourage first aid training and use of universal precautions for all school personnel;

That National PTA and its constituent associations support the development and implementation of a practiced plan at each public school to summon help, perform CPR and use AEDs to save lives;
