Prevention Science

 

Prevention science focuses on reducing risk factors and enhancing protective factors through developing evidence-based strategies.  Application of such strategies have been used to identify methods to reduce substance use behaviors.   The hope is that every school/PTA will implement strategies from prevention science to be most effective in educating and protecting students during their campaigns.  Effective prevention strategies for youth should focus on activities that build social competence, self-regulation, and academic skills.
