2017-2019 Nominations and Required Qualifications for Positions

UTAH PTA NOMINEES FOR 2017-2019

Nominees for the Utah PTA Board  of Directors for 2017 - 2019 are:

President Elect -- Laney Benedict

Student Involvement Commissioner -- Betty Shaw
 

According to the Utah PTA Bylaws Article XVI: Committee on Nominations for Utah PTA Officers, Directors, Commissioners, and Representative Section 5:

The committee on nominations shall nominate one eligible person for each office and position of director, commissioner, or representative to be filled at the annual convention. A list of the nominees shall be filed with the secretary of the Utah PTA, and the secretary shall send a copy to each member of the Utah PTA Board of Directors and to each council and local PTA/PTSA president not less than thirty (30) days prior to the date for the convening of the annual convention.

Nominations to Run From the Floor 
Anyone who wishes to run from the floor for any of the postitions listed above may do so provided the nominee has filed his intention to become a candidate with the secretary of the UtahPTA at least fifteen (15) days prior to the annual convention. Nominations to run from the floor must be received at corey@utahpta.org by May 25, 2017.  If you are interested in putting your name forward please be sure that you meet all qualification necessary for the position.

Requirement to Serve
All nominees must be members of a local unit.

To serve in the positions of President Elect: an individual must have served at least one (1) complete term at the time of the election on the Utah PTA Board of Directors and the individual must have served on the Utah PTA Board of Directors within the past 5 years.  The individual must have served as a local president and it is also recommended that the individual has served on the Utah PTA finance committee and the Utah PTA bylaws committee.

To serve in the position of Advocacy Vice President: an indivudal must have served at least one (1) complete term at the time of the election on the Utah PTA Board of Directors within the past 5 years. The individual must have served as a Region Director or Region Associate Director for at least one (1) complete term. 

To serve in the position of Secretary: an individual must have served at least one (1) complete term at the time of election on the Utah PTA Board of Directors  and the indivudal must have served on the Utah PTA Board of Directors within the past 5 years. It highly recommended that the individual has served on the Utah PTA finance committee.

To serve in the postions of Administrative Representative: the indivudal must be currently employed as a Administrator within the state of Utah.

To serve in the position of a Director: an individal must has served at least one (1) complete term at the time of election on the Utah PTA Board of Directors and the individual must have served on the Utah PTA Board of Directors within the past 5 years.

To serve in the position of a Commissioner: the indivudal must have knowledge of the area the commission.
